THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL⚽
The History Of Football -:
It is the greatest and most popular sport in the world. It is an industry worth billions and is watched on every continent on the globe. From toddlers kicking a ball whilst they try to figure out their coordination through to adults who make a living from it, it is a sport that can be played by virtually anyone. Yet what is the history of the beautiful game? When did it begin?
There are many assumptions about the starting history of football. Many are that football was first played by china, Roam ancient Greece, Japan.
Slowly the game started to grow in different parts of the world but the main problem was the rules of the game because every team had their own sets of laws and rules.
The Development Of Official Rules
In the 1840s all teams that were formed during that time come together and The rules allowed forward passes, for example, as well as throw-ins, goal kicks and they also forbade running whilst holding onto the ball. But as in the case with most
Things in life, not everything went smoothly.
As a result, some clubs started making their own rules again and went on making a new football club which we all knew as Sheffield United(1857).
In 1863 the football association was formed. Despite that clubs in different areas play matched with their own sets of rules.
CHANGES IN RULES-:
The first such amendment came about in 1891 when the penalty kick became part of the rules.
After this in 1925 again an amendment came which was the offside rule.
In 1958 came the introduction of substitutes. Before that players simply had to carry on through injury and illness if they didn’t want their team to be reduced in number in their absence.
In 1970 yellow and red cards were introduced. Players who broke the laws of the game could be punished for doing so.
The formation of the Premier League in 1992 allowed the FA to have a little look at the rules. The only change they decided to make was to introduce the backpass rule, meaning that goalkeepers couldn’t pick up the ball if it was passed to them by one of their players. Before this rule, Liverpool used the ability to pass back to the goalkeeper as a way to waste time.
Modern changes-:
The biggest change to football in modern times came in 2012 when goal-line technology was introduced. This system alerts the referee to whether or not the entirety of the ball has crossed the line.
It was first used in the FIFA club world cup Of 2012.
The first official international game took place in Glasgow on the 30th of November 1872, a 0-0 draw watched by around 4000 people.
